I remember when I was younger and I wanted to be beautiful; now I’m older and I want to be intelligent. I want to burn hearts with brilliance and engulf souls with compassion. I want to be loved for my thoughts and nothing else.(via 400eurojob)

Before you’re a teenager you romanticize all of the ideas of what you think being a teenager is gonna be like based on what you seen on movies, based on what you see in you know, social environments when you’re younger, and then when you get to a teenager, because you are a teenager, you romanticize everything, because you are a teenager. So the romantic element of being a teenager stays with you through that time. A lot of the ideas narratively, lyrically, were founded at that time for me, seventeen, eighteen, but then obviously as you leave being a teenager, the further away you get the more you romanticize your memories, the more antiquated and romanticized they become like anything. So there is this kind of perpetual romanticization of what is to happen, what’s happening and what has happened. I’ve found that when it came to the album, there was a lot of writing retrospectively because all of the narrative is true but maybe the only way it’s embellished is my romantic perception of what happened, so I think that the ideas when I was a teenager, those feelings they really really informed me creatively.Matty Healy (The 1975)
